Policies and Procedures
- Equipment may only be borrowed by a properly trained individual on behalf of a CWRU USG-recognized student organization of which he or she is a current active member.
- Training sessions will be provided by the Footlighters at the beginning of every semester. These sessions will be announced on the Footlighters website, on the reservations calendar, and via the SLEBS email list.
- If an individual is unable to attend the regularly scheduled training session, he or she may request a make-up session, which will be scheduled subject to the availability of the equipment and Footlighters technicians.
- In lieu of attending a training session, an individual may request to take a test to demonstrate competence in the use of the equipment.
- An individual's training or test results shall be considered valid for one calendar year, or until the end of his or her active membership in the student organization he or she represents, whichever is shorter. After the expiration date, he or she will be required to attend a training session or pass a competency test again before borrowing equipment.
- The individual borrowing the equipment is responsible for its protection from damage, loss, or theft. He or she must be the primary individual handling the equipment at his or her organization's event.
- In lieu of having a member trained, an organization may request to have Footlighters technicians to manage the equipment at their event, subject to the availability of the Footlighters personnel. The current charge for this service is $20/hour for each technician required to manage the equipment. The minimum charge is $60. This request should be submitted on the same form as the request to borrow the equipment for the event.
- Equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis. While the Footlighters will make every attempt to keep the reservations calendar current, no request is guaranteed until the Footlighters send a notification that the reservation has been confirmed.
- Requests for use of the equipment must be submitted at least 10 days in advance of the event, to allow sufficient time for processing.
- Damage or loss of the equipment will result in a fine charged to the student organization that borrowed the equipment. This fine will be equal to the cost of repairing or replacing the equipment, whichever is cheaper. In the case of severe damage, the Footlighters may suspend or revoke the borrowing individual's or organization's privilege to use the equipment. No group with an outstanding debt to the Footlighters will be permitted to borrow the equipment.
- Any violations of these policies may be cause for suspension or revocation of an individual's or organization's privilege to borrow the equipment. The Footlighters reserve the right to update or alter these policies without prior notification or consent of outside parties.
