About Us

Footlighters is a completely student-run group devoted to promoting musical theater at Case Western Reserve University, The Cleveland Institute of Art, and The Cleveland Institute of Music. Since 1998, the Footlighters have produced one show each semester in order to best serve the community. In the past, the Footlighters have performed Chicago, Sweeney Todd, Footloose, Beauty and the Beast, and the Northern Ohio Premiere of The Wild Party.

Footlighters gives students an opportunity to be involved in all aspects of theater production including directing, choreographing, working backstage, acting, playing in or directing the pit orchestra, constructing sets, making costumes, and publicizing the performances. Every aspect of the musical is done by a student. Each semester, over 1000 students, faculty, staff, and community members come together to watch the Footlighters take the stage!
